Excitement bulids for 2010 UK Barista Championships
BUNN will be a Silver Sponsor for the UK Barista Championships 2010. The UK chapter of the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe opened applications November 1st. Budding baristas will be able to download application forms from the brand new SCAE UK web site as well as catch up with all the latest news on the competition.
David Locker, BUNN Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland, will be serving as a sensory judge for the 2010 Championships.
The competition’s main purpose is to drive the quality of coffee served throughout the country.
Despite the rise of the high street espresso bar, and lattes and cappuccinos commonly being served everywhere from office blocks to petrol stations, the quality in our cup is often lacking. Basic barista skills and fresh premium coffee beans are often neglected even in many of our top restaurants, cafes and hotels. The UK Barista Championships hope to provide a spotlight for our top professional baristas and make everyone more aware of just how good our daily cup can be with a little more care.
The competition is open to all levels. Some enter with the top prize in their sights but many more enter for the fun of it, learning lots along the way and joining an ever growing barista community.

Coffee Basics Now in German
The classic guide to brewing perfect coffee, BUNN Coffee Basics, is now available in German. Originally published by BUNN in 2005, this free brochure is also available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Using the information in BUNN Coffee Basics, readers can learn how to brew perfect coffee to standards set by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE). Colorful, easy-to-understand graphs and illustrations accompany simple explanations of the following topics:
